Metal Separators For Injection MoldingInjection molding machines need to be protected from metal contamination especially where the raw material enters the machine in front of the material in-take. This is your last opportunity for keeping foreign metal material from entering the machine.

Demand on the metal separator is high in these situations. Not only must the metal particles be separated from a free falling stream of material, they have to be separated at the same time the injection molding machine is being filled. Secondly, metal particles have to be detected even as the column of material is slowly settling. For metal detection to even take place, it is best to detect metal that is slowly moving through a magnetic field. The problem is that the slower the material moves through the magnetic field, the lower the sensitivity will be. To compensate for this, our metal separators are equipped with specially developed software that can ensure a relatively high degree of sensitivity regardless of how fast the material moves through the magnetic field.

We offer two possible metal removal systems for the injection molding industry:
1) Metal separation using a separation drum which guides the free falling raw material into an externally located receptacle or drum, and 2) a metal separation system that uses two powerful nozzles to shoot the raw material and the metal out of the material stream or colum inside a connected tank.

The Drum Metal Separator

Metal Separators For Injection Molding In this system, the digital metal separator uses a drum that guides the freely falling or slowly settling granulate into an externally located collection receptacle. When plastic granulate enters the injection molding machine, the machine is either empty and in the process of being filled or it is full and the material is slowly settling down. With an installation height of 320 mm , the drum metal separator is ideal for those situations where space is not restricted. Typically, low quality granulate has a higher amount of metal particles than higher grades. The metal separator detects the metal and then blocks the machine's material intake by switching the drum to the "Out of tolerance" position. As the injection molding machine continues to process the granulate, it produces a void underneath the separator. Once the separation is complete, the drum reopens and the material drops down freely for a brief period of time. Using a newly developed compressed air separation technology, our compact metal separator is fast and powerful . Using two powerful nozzle to shoot the material and the metal out of the material column inside a connected tank, this solution saves on space and maintenance costs.
